SKINGRAFT, the groundbreaking Los Angeles-based design house led by designer Jonny Cota and brand manager Chris Cota, has announced the opening of its first New York City store to be located at 7 Prince Street, between Elizabeth and Bowery in Nolita. (A prime location for my personal shopping voyages.)

The 500-square-foot store, which will officially open May 7th, will house the label’s men and women’s collections while  allowing customers to also purchase special samples, accessories and limited-run items. For something a little extra, the store will host monthly windows displays of artwork curated from various local artists.

On why he chose Nolita to be the home of his first NYC store, Jonny Cota said, “This is my favorite area in New York City. It showcases many independent designers, and it straddles the Bowery and Soho which contain two very different types of people who are both our customers.”

To commemorate this exciting milestone, during the month of May, the store will be playing a 3-D fashion video called “DARK LIGHT CYCLES,” a collaboration between the label and Motivated Media & 3D TRIBE, who are dedicated to the creation of premium 3D films to elevate the experience of fashion and luxury brands.

Remember to mark your calendars for May 7th, the opening date; I better see you there!

David and Phillipe Blond, the designer duo behind The Blonds, custom designed this outfit for Queen B, who has been dressed by them for various occasions, including her “Upgrade” music video, promo shots for her album “4″ and various performances throughout the past five years.

“Beyonce exudes confidence, glamour and sensuality,” said David Blond. “So we created something that would express those things in every way. A couture look that would not only be stunning, but also reflect her personality and the music from this segment of the Mrs. Carter Tour. To start, Phillipe hand-painted the suit on Beyonce to achieve the correct shading. Then the piece was hand embroidered with approximately 30,000 Swarovski crystals that took over 600 hours to apply.”

“Our original inspiration came from Tamara de Lempicka’s paintings of the female body,” said Phillipe Blond. “It is also meant to give the illusion of being covered in crystallized honey. It was a close collaboration with Beyonce, Tina Knowles and Ty Hunter to finish what would become one of the most glamorous and provocative looks that she’s ever worn.”

Although I didn’t watch the MTV Movie Awards the other night (mainly because I don’t have cable in my studio and my mother was visiting), I immediately pinned down Emma Watson as one of this red carpet’s best-dressed celebrities during my red carpet recap.

Sure, my twin brother and I have loved her ever since her freshmen days on screen as Harry Potter’s Hermione Granger, but she’s definitely stayed current with a few great movies and continues to impress the world as a blossoming celeb with style. (But I do miss her pixie cut.)

Here, she wears a short, cute and slightly futuristic piece by French designer Maxime Simoëns. And I must say I absolutely LOVE this look on her. (Plus the designer is sort of a cutie.)
