From Androgyny to Drag Queen: Tilda Swinton Covers Candy

Candy, a fashion magazine based on celebrating  ”transvestism, transexuality, crossdressing and androgyny in all their glory,” has done it again with an amazing (yet nearly unrecognizable) cover. (Editor’s Note: You might remember their cover where James Franco was photographed in drag. Daring, but perfection.)

This time around, for their “Summer 2012 Special Limited Edition,” Tilda Swinton graces the cover as a flamboyantly statuesque beauty with red-flamed tresses and a golden dress — a version of herself that reminded us of a cross between an alien space goddess, a made-up Dakota Fanning and power redhead vocalist Florence Welch.

From cover to spread, the images of Swinton prove her fashion prowess has shown no sign of growing weakness since her August 2011 W Magazine appearance, demonstrating the androgynous actress’ uncanny ability to assume a role and manipulate whatever she can to become a perfect reflection of honest character has only strengthened. Plus she is a massive bombshell in whatever she wears in front of a camera. That helps.

Below you’ll find the photos of her piece,”The Transformer,” where they nailed it head on with the headline. What do you think?
