Yesterday, on Valentine’s Day, I publicly proclaimed my undying love for Carlos Campos’ Fall/Winter 2012 collection. But this morning, I made a mistake, a small blunder in the way of love: I had a fling — with Rochambeau‘s Fall/Winter 2012 collection, nonetheless. Just look at this first model and his layered coat, and you’ll see why.
Presented in the Box at Lincoln Center as part of W Hotel‘s Fashion Next program, this edgy and dramatic collection evokes all the things we look for in the [personal favorite] grunge of the Boho chic. From the dark colors and the wide-rimmed hats to the round sunglasses and the unmistakable beauty in the pop of maroon, this line is the tempter in my menswear love affair.
Formed in 2007 by friends Joshua Cooper and Laurence Chandler, Rochambeau (French for the game rock-paper-scissors) evokes all of their combined creative prowess, accumulating from the many years they’ve spent passionately watching the industry and vigorously taking notes. And, let me just tell you, it’s paid off, as you’ll see below. The collection has a strong artistic presence and combines well-tailored wearable pieces with handsome detailing, creating a stunning line worth a moment of fashion adultery. (Plus, I think you have to love a label if they can make pleated pants look good on men. That’s nearly impossible.)
If you liked what you’ve seen here, be sure to check out their website to shop or take a browse through their past collections.
